Webmaster(Chad K) Interviews Halloween Remake director Rob Zombie!
1. Will the storyline be similar to the original? Any same aspects?
RZ: Some things will be similar and some quite different. It's really too early to tell.
2. Will any actors from the original Halloween return? Do you have any actors planned?
RZ: Can't really say at this point. I have some thoughts on casting, but I don't want to discuss it so early on.
3. Should we expect to see a Dr. Loomis character and a Laurie Strode character or are you completely starting over from scratch?
RZ: I feel both of these characters are very important to the story.
4. Do you plan to use the city name Haddonfield and Sanitarium name Smith's grove from the original?
RZ: Most likely.
5. The original Halloween was filmed mostly in Pasadena, CA. Do you have any plans on shooting any of the film there?
RZ: No. I don't want the film to look like the original. What's the point in that? It should have the mood and the vibe, but not be a copy.
6. The original film made Michael seem superhuman, but it never really explained how or why. Do you plan to bring a sort of demonic presence to the character that explains his reign of terror?
RZ: No.
7. Will Michael have the same appearance that he has in the original? Same style of killing and movement?
RZ: Sometimes maybe, but at other times I want to inject fresh elements. If he looks, moves and acts exactly the same as in the other 8 films it seems pointless.
8. Do you think your new Halloween will be the beginning of an entire new series?
RZ: Who knows? That's for the folks who own Halloween to decide.
9. Is there any other details that you would like to share with your fans about your "re-imagining" of Halloween?
RZ: Well, no real details. But I just want to express that this is not meant to be in anyway some kind of shot for shot copy of Carpenter's original. We all know and love that film and creating something like that would be fucking stupid.
I want this film to capture what is great about Carpenter's film, but be so different in style and execution that you won't feel the need to compare them. Even though I'm sure everybody will anyway.
Rob had also stated that the film will be sort of a prequel and a remake combined, and that
the film will take place in 1978 just like his last 2 films.
